amp clipping?

I just recently got 3 18" hdc3's. I only have a SSL 4000w amp on them (I know it really isn't a 4000w amp). I was just wondering how could I tell if I'm getting a clean signal going to them. Gain is 3/4 and subwoofers are -6 (out of 15) on the headunit. Can I put the subwoofer level higher without clipping? Thanks in advance

You could rent an smd-dd1 from the guy that rents them out on this forum. Or buy an o-scope.
