Sub Upgrade with JL 500/1

And a sheet of Plexiglass. Quit looking for an excuse to bash someone jagoff.

I'm guessing 3/4 inch plexi, o.k that might only run $50 but not sure. I'll need the assistance with plans for a box, I'm capable of building it. Would like to use the plexi on the front side with a strobe light and disco ball inside. Well not really a strobe and disco ball but a neon.

So who has the ability to write me up plans on a properly tuned box and how much should I expect to pay for them? Going in a 2000 Intrepid and want it to fit as far to the back as I can so I will still have room to use the trunk. Its a big trunk but I only can build 13" High X 36" Wide and 13 1/2" Deep.

I currently have a 10" type x being powered by a jl 1400d.... its in a ported box, and I know its underpowered but it sounds great and gets nice and loud. With only 4-500 watts rms it seems to move a decent amount.

I will only get 500 rms and 1000 peak so the power handeling of the sub(s) can't be too extreme.

actually, correct me if i'm wrong, but the jl 500/1 will only put out 500 watts period. dosn't matter if you run it at 4 ohms or at .5 ohms it will only put out 500 watts. this is due to the regulated power supply inside the amp. actually, they are a little underrated, so you'll probably get like 600 watts or so.

when you run them at lower ohms they back off in power output slightly to keep them from overheating. if you had two of the same speaker, one 4 ohm and one that will get to 1 ohm, you would have better sound and it would be louder with the 4 ohm load on that amp. they adont make 600 watts though. i felt that they were on the weaker side of 500. i went from two 500/1's to a single zapco 1100.1 and it made leagues of difference.

Get a 12W6v2.

I run one(sealed) off a 500/1, and I love the setup.
