Sub Recommendation

Hey all, I have a friend that's looking for a fairly inexpensive yet good quality bass addition to his system. Well, he's stock, everything, at the moment. He listens mostly to hard rock and some metal, rarely ever listens to rap. I'm suggesting the JL Audio 10W6 and the 500.1 amp, however its a bit out of his price range though. I know that the JL Audio line has extremely clean bass, that can get loud if the user wants to, but its clean either way. I'm also thinking of a 10" driver because it won't quite overpower everything and has a nice clean feel to it. From the system's I've heard, 10" are better with rock music. That's just my opinion, if you've heard 1000 different combinations of amps/subs feel free to suggest a different size, even if you've just in person heard great clear quality bass out of a different size suggest it. Now, here are my questions:

Should I suggest a different sub? My other thoughts would be either a Type R, Type X, or AA Assasian or Arsenal....or should i be thinking 10W3 or 12W3.

or

Should I find a different amp? Non JL Audio more along the lines of Hifonics because of a mix of quality and cheapness, however i can't seem to find a great amp to use with this woofer.

The Budget would be $400-500 preferrably. Box and wires do not need to be included in Budget, I've got that covered. Also I'm not looking for midbass suggestions right now, I'll come back in the future for help with that later.

Those TC sub's look great budget wise, could get a system with under $300 for that, but will it sound good for rock and stuff? It seems like there wasn't much on it here on the forums when i just searched real quick. Kappa Perfects or TC you guys think or the W6?

Also sealed for the TC subs NoLimit? or any of the choices?

on crutchfield i think it is, those perfect's are goin for 150 buy on get one free. go for it

Maybe I missed it, but what type of vehicle does he drive? If he has a lot of cabin space the 10" may not be the best thing for him IMHO.

forget the 10. i'd say go with two 8" AA assassins in AA's dual ported box plans. SQ will be excellent with 150-200rms on each.

Yeah I've heard this combination sounds wicked. I've already thought about this, and is near the top of the list.
