Saying the tantrum would put more strain on his electrical system and may not be able to perform to its full potential....I could see that. Saying the tantrum can't make enough power @ 3 ohms....dont see that.

look at the specs of the tantrum - the amount of amps it pulls then compare that to the jl 1000.1 per ohm load...

the jl puts out the same wattage while the tantrum changes

look at what this guy wants to put these 2 amps on a 13w7 which has a dual 1.5 ohm load meaning it must be ran at 3ohms but in more detail look at the tantrum's rms at the 3ohm load

finally I suggest looking at the powersupply

clearly the tantrum is a good amp however its not good enough to push a 13w7

the tantrum will put out more power then the 1000/1, and it has a regulated power supply like the jl, and is almost just as effiecient, because of its class "T" circuitry. Which would mean that when putting out the amount of power then JL can, the tantrum would be just as efficient as the JL, in its amperage. So basically tantrum>1000/1

IIRC the 1000.1 is 1kw from 2-4ohm

Tantrum is 1200+ from 2-4ohm. Most bench in the 1400 range.

Not really enough to tell a major difference in power, but both are rock solid amps and both will get the job done well.

As far as what sub to pick...both have respected SQ and output. I would rather pay the $350-$450 for one of Josh's limited run Ubers. They work well in a small box which is exactly what I would want. I havent liked any of the W7 installs that I have heard in a small sealed box.

there are always some up on ebay.....and nothing wrong wt used.....i got mine used and its fine..........just make sure the seller is respectable.....better then paying 550 (minimum) for the jl....get a tantrum for 300(Maximum)

I have an uber which was for sale, but the guy bailed out so I decided to keep it. The SQ on the thing is absolutely awesome, the most transistant bass I have heard from a sub yet. It is true that it does a great job in a small sealed box, and the higher freq responce is not too bad at all. It is pretty efficient, it gets pretty loud considering how small my box is and that it is probably only getting ~950w.

All and all im real glad I ended up keeping the uber.

i would have to say the uber is my first choice. i have heard plenty of w7's and i love the sq that comes from my uber. If i had it in a sealed box sq would be even better.

id ont get what this guy is saying.... hes asking what the tantum puts out at 3 ohms..... it puts out 400 watts more then the JL. im not asking which draws more. And im not askign about amps at all. 1000 watts is more then enough for the 13w7. even if its not effiecient and not putting out full power i still think its gonna be putting out more then teh JL.

I just wanna see kids faces when i pop the trunk and its something they never even seen or heard before blowing away w7's. any1 have box plans for something like this. I heard 2-4 cubes ported low low.
