Sub not turning down with other volume

So heres the deal. Went and put a jl 12" sub and a kicker dx125.2 amp in a 13 jeep wrangler unlimited by a pro shop in scottsdale (audio express) and the sub doesn't turn down with the rest of the system. They said that was normal with the stock head unit (430n). Didn't think about it and I said ok fine and left. It's starting to get annoying and I am starting to second guess if it is normal. Is it? Also, they didn't set the gain so I am self adjusting it and have no idea what I'm doing.

Not normal at all. Stock hu you say? Did they use line reducers or is it hooked up through high level input?

what kind of factory system is in the jeep? If its one of the premium systems then that might be normal for them but it also means they got the signal from the wrong location. You might have to rewire to get signal from the rear speakers instead of behind the deck.

Took it to the store today and they fixed it right up. They originally connected it to the hu (yes premium) then they hooked it to the factory woofer location and all is good now. It hits HARD.
