Sub Help Please

I'm looking for 12'' SQL sub to put into a ported box. Right now i'm looking at the 05 Type R from Alpine or the 12'' Kicker L5. From what I've read the L5 is more SPL than SQ. Is there any other options available? I have 450 to spend on the sub, box, and amp. I'm looking for a good mix of SQ and SPL. I don't want to compete or anything this is just for a daily driver. Thanks for any recomendations. I know alot of people on here like RE, Adire, and Ascendant subs, will I be able to get a decent 12'' sub from them and a box and amp for my price range Final question what amp should I get to power this sub?
