I have the B12 in about a 4 cuft. box ported. Only have about 800 watts running to it and I dont let it distort. It gets hot well its almost always hot after I push it pretty good. Just wondering if that was bad, or something I should watch out for.

Thanks

If you push it hard, of course it will get hot. Electrical energy dissipates as heat.....

How do you know it gets hot? Do you take it out and feel it? OR is it inverted?

If it's getting warm (like you can still touch it and not say "ouch") then it's probably not anything to worry about. If it gets hot enough to burn your skin or to start smelling it burning, then you've got a problem. When I had my 'bahn inverted in my truck, I could sometimes feel heat radiating off it after being played for a while, but it never hurt it to get a little hot.

Yeah one day I smelt them and turned it down right after. I think I was just doing, I guess you could say the final burn in. It doesnt burn anymore though.

Thanks for the help.

My B-15's dust cap gets hella hot. Glad this was brought up, I was starting to worry. I talked to the guy that I got it from and he said that I might possibly be over powering it.

It's kinda odd, when I have my A7 at 2ohm (~700w) with my 3 HE2's, it could pound all day until your eyeballs rettled out of you skull. Now with the A7 at 1ohm (~1400w) to the B-15 I can't get half that loud with out smelling the vc or it getting scarry hot. I have been taking it easy with it until I get a time to make another box. Right now it is in a 5.5cu' box ported to 24Hz and I think I'm going to put it in a 4cu' box ported to about 30Hz.

The XBL2 is in reality tiny, isn't it? So I would assume heat buildup is quite normal for a sub like the brahma and XXX. RF VC's aren't XBL2, I would imagine them to be large, so they might have better cooling abilities.
