Why that enclosure? It has the response of a bandpass design, not very useful in most systems.......

Depends on what you need it to do, but ported enclosures are usually the way to got for movies and stuff.

Ported low and in the corner...Should the sub face the corner or the port?

Room is ~16 * ~26 if that matters. I will be going with a 15"

On the other topic, I decided to keep parts of my HTIB (5.1). It plays CDs, gets plenty loud for me (and I can replace the speakers later anyway)

I would have to agree with that... The corner isn't always the best place to put the sub...
