Sub doesn't work

What do you mean you took it apart?
If you totally disassembled your subwoofer, it's not gonna work anymore without a recone.
Ya i know but I'm just wondering what was wrong with it i checked the terminal the amp and when I tested it with a meter it read oL

Okay...uhm, if you have a meter, hook it up directly to the coil(s). Depending on the impedance of the sub, each coil should typically read around 2 or 4 ohms. Make sure your meter is set to read resistance.

What was wrong with your sub that led you to take it apart?

my sub just completely stopped working and I've done everything people have told me to do and they said it was an open coil or something like that

Also its a mtx thunder 8000. Would it be worth reconing it myself?
I don't really know. I'm not familiar with MTX's products, nor do I know if they even sell recones for their products. Besides, I wouldn't recommend subwoofer repair unless you're actually sure of what you're doing. For sure sounds like a bad coil, though, unless a connection came loose or the amp quit.
