sub combo

Hi everyone, new to this. I have a toyota tacoma extended cab p/u with stock stereo. Speakers sound really good but I just want to add a little extra. I bought a head unit to accept ipod and am looking for a sub. I was thinking one 12" all I need. Seats fold up and I hardly ever need the back space,it's a good foot and a half to two feet by width. I thought just one in middle. Any similar with good results? I listen to just about all music. Would need sub,box and amp.

sorry, 300 to 400 dollar range. Yes looking for sound quality not rattle windows. I auction site has Halfpricecaraudio store combo rockford fosgate P3SD412sub and P300-1 amp. Sub is rated dual 4 ohms 400 ,800 peak.

rockford is really cheap in my opinion. for that price you could get a sundown 8 and a cheap amp (maybe an apsm 1300) thats what i have and it works great. You could use a smaller amp, but the apsm is only 100 bucks. and get someone to build you a box.

rockford is known for loud. but not sq. def not sq. a lot of the "ready to go" systems won't give you what you are looking for. the fusion might be okay. but i would strongly recommend looking into finding a box builder near you or pay for the shipping to get a small ported box for an sa 8 shipped to you from a box builder. its only 1 or 1.5 cubes. don't remember. so it will cost less for the wood. and the sa 8 is only like 140. plus the aspm 1300 which is 110. so that is 250 out of ur 400 budget. so you'd be looking at 150 to spend on a box with shipping. then 30 bucks for a tsunami wiring kit. the apsm only takes up to 4 awg tho.

Thats what I've heard. I've been looking for months to try and find the right combo, but I don't know much about amps and 2 ohm and 4 ohm, dual coil. Some subs say 400 watt .ms 800 peak, but the amp doesn"t seem to match the low 400. Then you look on line some say there good others no to the subs.Ahhhhhhhh. This was torockford fosgate post earlier.

what you should probably look at is rms. peak is how much power you could safely give them. but rms is what you will normally be running them at. the sa8 is rating 600 rms but i think its underrated on power. the apsm would give you more than enough power for the sa 8. and it wouldn't be too much stress on ur alternator. someone else could probably explain 2 vs 4 ohms better than i could tho. (its okay to have an amp that puts out more power than your sub) just make sure you don't run the amp all the way up.
