Sub based on amp ohms.. 2 ohm or 4 ohm

If my amp runs at 310w RMS 4 ohm and 500w RMS 2 ohm....then should I get the 2 ohm version of the 05 Alpine R? Will be in a 1.75 cubic foot box and want good lows and SQ.

Are you asking about single coil or dual coil subs? IIRC, the type r only comes in dual coils.

if your amp is pushing out 500rms x 1 @2ohms. you'll need the 05 dvc 4ohm version model # SWR-1242D CHICK HERE see Option #1

if your amp is pushing out 310rms x 1 @4ohms. you'll need the 04 dvc 2ohm version model # SWR-1221D CHICK HERE see Option #2

Ok now I am confused... the Alpine comes in a 2ohm and 4ohm design... and both are dual coil...
So if my amp runs more power at 2ohms why would I want the 4ohm model?

Because you will have TWO four ohm coils. Check the wiring tutorial on this forum, to learn the different ohm loads and wiring methods.
