sub/amp trouble

Hey, i have a 4 channel lightning audio 1200w amp with 2 12" subs in separate boxes... for some reason, they sound really bad. my old 10" roadmaster subs from walmart sounded better. i had a sony explode 800w with my 10" and they sounded great. then the guy i got the amp from wanted to trade so he could have an "all sony" system so i figured it was a good deal and i was trading up. but with the new amp it didn't sound as good. and the new subs are even worse. wouldn't 12" be better than 10"? does this sound like a problem with the amp? also they make a rattling sound. i have noticed that when i unplug one of the rca plugs the remaining sub sounds great and doesn't rattle. but when i plug the other one back in, it just sounds crappy and they rattle again. i heard the subs when they were in the car from the guy i got them from and they sounded great. would bad wires cause this problem? sorry if i am not specific enough, this is my first time posting so ask any questions if you need.

Lightning audio has some great SPL subs, and Sony has some decent shit too. Wouldnt happent to be just repeating other statements youve seen, and passing them off as your own thoughts would you?

Check all of your wiring to both the amp and subs. Maybe get the guy you got them from to help you out?

well all ive ever seen of lightning audio was what they have at walmart. i would not buy anything car audio related from walmart except maybe a head unit. and all the lightning audio gear at walmart is garbage.

as far as sony goes i think their home audio stuff is great but thier car audio is lacking.

on a related note my roomate/cousin is a store manager for walmart. his amp (sony) and bandpass 10" sub (jensen) purchased at walmart very chep sounds horrible imo

basically i would never wanna put sony or lightning audio in my car. theres just much better products out there to spend my money on.

Simply judging them from the way they look (cheap), you don’t get a good feeling. But aside from that, check your gains, your LPF/HPF settings on both your H/U and amp. Make sure you have the RCA’s plugged into correct inputs. Good luck!

not garbage just low entry level equipment, never juge audio equipment by looks. Now i would never install that stuff in my truck only cause i have used it when i was a noob and know better now, but dont discourage someone who is new the the game, oh and by the way he did upgrade he went from roadmaster to lightning audio.

thats cool i just think its stupid to invest any amount of money on any kind of lightning audio equipment. to me it would be like throwing money down the drain.

to people that know better it is like throwing money away, but for some noob its just there new equipment, let them learn by experence. When someone asks a question about equipment they already have dont critisize them answer the question and then sugest that the upgrade in the future. that way when they get that new xxx 15 or JL 13W7, or RL-p, it will sound all the much better. But on the other hand if someone WTB lighning audio or lower end sony, inlighten them on cheaper or better alternatives.
