Sub+Amp combo?

My friend is looking to upgrade his system and I was wondering what you guys could suggest.

His price range is 500-600$ for Sub/Amp/Box and he is looking for an equal blend of Sq and Spl.

He wants a 15 in a ported box.

I was thinking of a DC level 3 or a SSA ICON possibly for the sub

For the amp mabey a Kicker 750.1(because i have one and it performs great) idk really about any good amps

What do you guys think about using an Audiopipe amp and then spending the rest on a good sub?

One problem I see is that he does not want to build a box he would rather buy one...

memphis does make some good budget subs/amps... have you ever ran them?

Well at this point I am looking for an amp that can do 1000watts at 2 ohm. Preferably around 250$

I know you're friend is looking for a 15" but I have a couple 12's he might be interested. Awesome SQ and can handle 1200-1500wrms.
