Stupidest Thing You Have Ever Heard When Talking With Someone About Car Audio?

thats by far one of the funniest posted, how could somebody be so ignorant, duct tape has its places but car audio isnt one of them...
You must not know much about dB's then.

Duct tape = dB's. Just ask anyone who seriously competes.

i'm not shure about this but i think that the volumes above 194 aren't messured in decibels, it is only a theoretical representation of how loud it would be...
because above that level they aren't really sound at all...

for example: an earthquake, is messured on the rictor scale, but if that wave was a sound wave, then it would be X amount of decibles....

to answer someones question earlier.... after 194dBs your car no longer puts out sound, it puts out earthquakes

They measure past 194db . Do a search on naval sonar. Some are over 200db //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It was all MTX stuff, and a prefab box. Nothing special at all.
I did enjoy watching him get second.

yea those kind of pressures under water are possible, Navy has been experimenting with it. I just wonder when actual competition cars will reach their limits, if they do.

my friends brother told me that a kove armegeddon 15 could hit 180 db's. i just laughed and said no way. he said ya right thats what its rated for. and he said 2 older jensens in a crappy bandpass box was "competition" and was loud as ****.

its sound funny, but its true. just putting duct tape around ports, the subs, and even the edges of the box can increase db's. less air comming out of areas it shouldnt always helps.

The main reason duct tape helps some people //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

sonar is underwater... sound travels better underwater than in air... take a sonar above the water and do a db reading... 194 is the limit in air

I just had to add my two cents; I went to a local reputable car audio dealer and had an exchange of words with the sales jerk when I asked about a 6x9 setup with builtin amp. I asked him if it was a 6x9 speaker and he said no its a 6x9 sub. I informed him that they are one in the same and he said "no because a speaker only play's the highs". I tried to inform him that all drivers/transducers are speakers and that sub, mid and highs discribe what area of the freq. spectrum they play but he wouldn't have it and he stuck to his guns calling the lone 6x9 w/builtin amp a sub.

By the way I was looking for some JL Audio 6" subs/speakers when he tried to sell me the overpriced Japanese 6x9's.
