Stinger voltage meter

I have been reading about these. At first they seemed to be very good according to people. A lot of people agreed that is was useful and was accurate. So I went ahead and purchased myself one. Now that I got it I have been reading on other forums that some people have problems with them such as whine noises due to the voltage meter and some even say that this voltage meter isn't accurate.

What are your thoughts on this voltage meter?

What is the proper way to install these so I won't get no whine noise and things like that?

OK I will be running two batteries:

Yellow top as my starter and another yellow top in the back for the system. Do I connect it to the battery in the back for the system or the alt?

I hooked mine up to the + and ground at my amp.

You could hook it to the battery though.

I did have to calibrate mine with a reference/calibrated meter as said in the post.

It works fine now.

So I could simply connect it to my batteries + and - ? I prefer to connect it to the battery in the back for the audio because I have two amps for the subs. Those two amps are my concern, I always want to know what voltage they are getting.

*Correction*

I connect it to the amps to see how much power they are getting correct?

If my concern is that I want to constantly see how much much voltage they are getting, connect it to the amps.

Battery V and amp V could be very different.

In that case I need two of the voltage meters, correct?

I've got a stinger cap, main-line anl fuseholder, and fused distro-block all with voltage meters, and they make no noise.

They fluctuate a LOT, but i think it's because the cap shows stored voltage, the mainline shows voltage before the cap, and then the distro-block shows conditioned voltage AFTER the cap.

The voltage reading on my distro-block and on my kenwood amp read exactly the same, tho, so i feel they're probably pretty accurate.

Another side note, is when the system's turned off, they slowly show lower and lower voltages, so i don't think that they're instantaneous. They show the power drop suddenly down to 12.8 or 12.9 volts, and then slowly drop down to 12.2 or so and then stop. Don't know if it's because the cap holds the 14.4 a bit longer, or if they're just not real-time.

Thats good. I got this meter thinking it was really accurate.

I connect it directly to the amp to see how much voltage the amp is constantly getting?

Do I need to buy another one for the other amp? ( i think I do )

Can't hurt, i've noticed a lot of variaton, and if you get the fuses with the voltage meters, they've got an alarm that tells you when a fuse is blown/almost blown, so there's no guesswork involved.

Helped me out earlier, turns out i had a 60a fuse before my bxi2006d... I about crapped my pants when the thing went limp busting out a 40hz tone, but that alarm told me everything was ok //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Doubt I'll bow any fuses. I know I shouldn't be using such big fuses but for the distro blocks and fuse holders I only have 250amp fuses and 300amp fuses. I have never blown a fuse ever since I have been running these fuses.
