still need new car suggestions

As stated a while ago, I totalled my car and am in need of a new one. My parents first offer was a $7000 maximum. After I talked to my mom yesterday about this she says "bottom line, the maximum we will spend on a car for you is $4000 and since you don't have any money right now, we are buying it and you don't have to pay us back and can't chip in if it is a little more expensive than that." So the idea of getting an '02 rsx is out after that information. I don't want a car you see everyday like a civic or a cavalier. I want something you don't see all the time and is at least semi-cool. The only one I have thought of that I would enjoy that can possibly be found for around that price is a Nissan 300z. Since finding one of those in decent shape and the right price will be kinda hard, I need some ideas on what else I could see if they could find. Two doors is definitely preferred. Please help me. My mom said they would buy it for me over my winter break from school which starts like December 12th or something, so I need ideas quick. Thanks a lot in advance.

I was in the hospital for over a month this summer and then was ordered by doctor's not to work for a while after I was released, so I used up all of the money I had in order to continue living life in the outside world. The original plan was to use some money from student loans when I take them out for college next semester to get a car, but my parents don't want me to do that so it was their idea to get me something. I'm not gonna turn down an offer of up to $4000 for a car when they insist that they are going to buy it. Two doors is preferred because I don't like the looks of a four door car unless it is something like a wrx or an evo, which are both obviously not within my price range. I would love to "be a man" and "sort out my own shit" asap but I lost all of my money, and wasn't allowed to have a job this semester while attending school since my parents and the doctors wanted me to "focus on school" and make sure I can do that first, since it is the number one priority in my life right now. I had a closed head injury in the car accident and they were all worried I wouldn't even be able to perform well at school, even without the distractions/time of a job at the same time. I'm sorry that this thread is so stupid, I just figured people who love cars as much as I do would have some good ideas for what I could look into with that amount of money. Since I will be home for winter break and working from around the middle of December through the middle of January, my parents don't really feel like having to take me to/pick me up from work everyday for a month. I would feel bad making them do that as well, and it would be a lot easier for me to be able to drive myself, especially when it is very possible that I could have a shift that starts/ends sometime while they are at work themselves. It is down to crunch time and I just needed some quick ideas. I apologize.

My 240sx is a project car ... I've had it for well over a year now...I haven't really done much to it...but I started working on it recently....I've modded the front doors from the 4x6's to fit 6x9's.....I have a few other things I've picked up for it...I hope to get it together soon...I have several vehicles...Here is a pic of my 240sx.....down at my Warehouse...also my Dodge Panel Caravan..in the background....
