Stiff subs or unrealistic expectations?

What ohm coils are these supposed to be and what are you supposed to be wired at total?
Not sure what I was doing last night, but i retested them this morning and they all have readings from 3.8-4 ohms. Dual 4 ohm coils. At the terminals after rewiring them and making sure there's no phase issues I get .98 ohms. The only problem is they play half as loud with the gains set the same. Also I set my lpf and subsonic filters correctly. The only way they'll play the same is with the 12db bass boost all the way up, and I don't want to do that. any ideas? also do you think I could get new ones through the warranty?

Sounds like the issue isn't the subwoofers. When subs break they stop working, they don't just get quiet. I'd say this is still an electrical/wiring issue. Take your alt and get it tested. Autozone does it IIRC.

Could it possibly be a short somewhere? I just replaced the alt but I guess it is possible that it's a bad one

swap them and try, so are your voice coils on each sub reading 4 ohm? thort we found out it was the subs?
On one sub they're reading 3.8-4 but on the other they're reading around 4.5 each... weird. Now i get about 1.5 ohms at the terminal. Oh well, should be easier on the amp. Also i rewired everything inside the box but used terminals and bolts this time, huge difference in the sound. I only tested them for about 20 seconds but the seem to be hitting again. Whats a good setting for my subsonic? I have my low pass set around 80Hz

Find a local shop in your area and take it in. At this point you need someone who can see it and person and fix what's wrong. Likely you have broken something, but you won't know exactly what or how unless someone can see it in person. You already spent a lot of money on this setup, might as well make it right.

Actually I'm pretty sure flapping noise is air rushing out of my poorly made box, but I'm getting a new one from a builder in here in a month or so. The only thing that still confuses me is why the impedance would be 4.5 ohms on one of the subs, and why the output dropped. Is it possible that the subs are loosing up and therefore need more power to have the same output? I don't want to destroy them with the bass boost on my amp. I'll try to make a video of them playing tonight

Alright, so with my gains set at about 5/8, the sub out on my deck set to +15 (I heard on kenwoods all the bass frequencies are amplified, not just a certain range so I believe this shouldn't harm the subs) lpf to 80Hz and subsonic to 30Hz, the boost on the amp set to 1/4 and the volume at 20, they absolutely slam. I'm just worried whether or not these settings are making my amp clip (1300w PPI black ice).

With a big air leak that's a recipe for disaster. Turn off the bass boost and take it a little easy until you get a real box or.fix what you have
I went to adjust my gains (the dial labeled level) and turned it to 0.2v, assuming it was the weakest setting, however its the farthest right on the dial (most clockwise). I also have my boost off and the bass knob turned to half. Well the excursion practically tripled and now there's so much output my sunroof bounces, rattles and sounds like ****. So what i'm asking is if my amp is labeled wrong and i turned the gains all the way up, but I don't think so because the dustcap is nowhere near warm after a 30 min ride with the volume @20.

Also is there any way to help prevent the sunroof from rattling? Maybe some dampener underneath the box?

omg, your subs wont last long.....turn your gain/level down and bass boost off.......... maybo worth doing a search on how to set up/tune your amp, befor you do some more damage to your gear

Boost is off, level is set to 0.2v but its the farthest right like i said... should i set it to 6v on the left? Also the knob is set halfway.
