Stetsom=Sexay *PICS*

Absolutely no experience is not true. I have seen them and play with them for a bit. They seem much better than the older amps, but reliability is still an issue.
What do you mean we you say reliability? Was the system that the amp in able to handle the amp (keep the voltage within tolerable ranges to see the desired results)?

No, your missing my point. The way the amps are designed is the biggest flaw. Next in line is the build quality. I'm not saying anything bad about output or parts used or anything like that. The parts the amps are built with are **** good parts ! But that doesn't make up for the other issues those amps have. The newer ones are not as bad as the older ones. I also don't have anything against Stetsom or Jeff, and I'm not stating that there is a better amp, I'm just stating my opinion.

nice, expesive due to expensive components, over-clocked, expensive, small attractive footprint, not the most durable. Overall good value. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif just not the best.

You have your opinion which may actually help stetsom. I see you post on almost every stetsom thread and say how reliability is at a risk. So you seem to have an interest in product in some way or another either good or bad.

If your up to it stetsom would love to hear what you think needs improved and why. PM me what you think the flaws are and how they could be improved for the specific models you have experience with. Information like that is the reason they improved the new models this for this year. Your input could have a big effect for next years models.

And that's the nice thing about building in house for stetsom. All improvements can be done quickly. They don't have to be sent to korea or china to be done and then wait back and forth testing to be approved.

If I get some extra time, then I could probably write something up for you. If you want something specific that bugs the shit out of me more than anything, look at the way the parts are held down. The legs of the parts can easily come into contact with the hold downs during assembly or during repair. Lay the parts flat on the heatsink so there is no possibility of a short. Start with that. I can go on about a few other things, but I'm not expert amp guy. I don't know a ton about electronics and I'm not certified for anything. But Stetsom can learn many lessons from the competition including how to make their amps reliable without being like everyone else. If they spent all this time to make a competitive amp, then they should be sure that things like reliability and practicality are top priorities. Because of the size of the Stetsom line, they are practical, but their high end SPL amps are not reliable, as I've stated many times.

But I hope people realize that when you saying that these amps are not reliable is based on your opinion and limited facts or experience. And there are some things that I do agree with you about. I do agree that Stetsom could learn from some other amp companies. Stetsom has been building amps for 20 years so their not a new company by any means.

The new 4k2d and 2k5d are rock solid compared to the older product. People have been running them for almost a year with no problems. I understand that you'll always have your opinions and that's fine and I respect that and agree with some.

That is true that I'm limited on experience, but not facts. I don't have to be an expert to tell you that Stetsoms have issues. The hold downs are common sense. I don't have to be an expert to point that out. The rest of the issues you could take or leave, but I could back up my reasoning. Don't just assume that I don't know what I'm taking about, I'm just not the amp expert of the forum and I would never claim to be. I don't care if you agree with me or not or whether Stetsom reads this, I just want people to see the good and bad so they can make a logic decision rather than seeing lots and lots of people (not everyone in this thread, in the forum in general) say "Buy Stetsom because it's awesome and they never have any problems." When those people know nothing about amps. No amp is perfect and I'm not trying to say that are all these better choices than Stetsom. I really wanted to get a Stetsom until I worked on one. I run a Mmats amp now and I couldn't be happier. Small foot print, puts out a lot of power, doesn't get hot, doesn't blow up due to poor design and it beats the hell out of my Nightshade. It's a 10 year old amp. I don't need to be an expert to tell you its a **** good amp.

But I'm sure you know these amps inside out yourself right?

The newer line especially are beasts, and are proven to be quite reliable. Dtbrown knows what he's talkin about. U can run those 4kd's for hours without any issues, 4200rms in a 14" chassis for $800, what more can u ask for?
