Stetsom 2K6 vs. SAZ-1500's strapped test

Tommy,

None taken. I 100% understand where you are coming from and agree with you to an extent about the product. But I can't deny what the product does and how well it does it. There are things that need improvement and that have been improved upon (efficiency). But Stetsom product in our applications have held strong with no issues and still keeps impressing us. You know I'll be the first to say what's wrong with a product. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif See you at SBN away from Dante. lol

The only real problems I had were the power terminals and heatsink size. The number of fets does concern me, but frankly I don't know enough about amplifier design to give you a technical reason as to why I don't like the board.

No doubt that stetsom has worked well for you. Hopefully the new products will solve some of the design concerns I had. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

But what you fail to mention is that drop in was at 1ohm on the Stetsom to 1ohm strapped on the two 1500D's. The Stetsom gains at least 1 db from 1ohm to .25ohm. And you're not going to get full power out of a 7kd on a single battery. Keep adding more battery and the Stetsom doesn't stop producing power where as the 1500d's will peak. Not saying anything bad about either amps just bring it up.
This is not really a valid point based on what I was referencing the link for -- the 7kd is rated 5000 watts @ 2 ohms and the strapped 1500s rated at 3000 watts strapped at 2 ohms. If the 7kd was even remotely as efficient he would have gained nothing going to the 1500Ds, or even lost swapping to them. I referenced the link for efficiency, not necessarily raw output -- I realize the 7kd does alot of power with more electrical in the SPL lanes as that is proven, the efficiency is in question.

Street-A is very current limited, I totally agree, but it is a pretty decent efficiency test since it is so limited.

If that's the case then at least Stetsom has a good warranty program. I personally own 5 7kd's and have yet to have an issue. But to each there own. I can only speak for my personal experience and testing.
I have a Team Sundown member that used to run Stetsom and it took him *months* to get a replacement. I understand that they are new in the USA but it should never take that long to take care of a customer.

And just one more time, dtbrown, I am not saying you can't do good SPL numbers with the Stetsoms -- you can, and many people are... just that the efficiency is wildly exaggerated and that the product design is questionable for a daily application.

Think with me here... the 7kd has *eight* output transistors for 7000+ watts. Why does every other amp with this kind of output have at least twice as many of the same package size FETs when the Stetsom is LESS efficient? Unless there is some magic dust in the amp it doesn't seem to add up to long term reliability to me, how about you?

When I asked about the warranty on the amps I was told 1 year if dealer installed otherwise 6 months. Which I'll be honest with you, is the reason I decided not to even try the 2k6.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

I was told by another person on here that this is true, but my warranty card on the 2k6d states a 1 year warranty and doesnt specify about being installed professionally or not.

I'm wondering where the Team Sundown member got his amplifier from originally.. I would hope i'd get a replacement from where i bought mine from, if anything goes to hell, as i have faith in all the brazilian equipment carried down here at the local south florida distrib.. Did he buy it from southern Florida or where'd it come from out of curiousity? The only company that's ****ed me on warranty would be us amps, taking 3 months on a md2d.. Not to mention a kinetik dealer that probably resold one of 2 batterys i sent in to him under warranty, and told me it wasnt under warranty anymore

WTF is with all the hate on Sundown in that thread? That Stetsom doesn't even look like it would do 7K.
Because Stetsom is Stetsom and Sundown is Sundown. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

The results were nothing surprising here. I've seen, handled, used, seen how they are tested before they go out, etc, Sundown's amplifiers and absolutely love them. Jake doesn't blow any smoke about his amps, and when you look at the internals of both amplifiers in question it's clear which one will be more reliable and which one has the capability of delivering rated power for a longer period of time.
