Stetsom 2K6 vs. SAZ-1500's strapped test

Thanks Chad... Although looking at the **** thing really good... It doesn't even resemble a normal class D amp.... Almost looks like a Setup Converter in a way....
setup or stepup converter. I almost purchased a 2k6 but looking at the internals and having an electrical eng. background I had some concerns.

Main reason the stetsom 2k6d pulls more current is it doesn't have a lot of capacitance inside compared to most amp and that makes 2k6d not as efficient as other amps but that's also the reason it's so small. Same thing with the 7kd 16 volt version. It'll do it's power but takes current to do it. With the 2k6d it's a give an take relationship. lol Now the new optional 7k 12volt version has 8 extra caps which greatly improves the efficiency and increases power by a lot. I don't know if they'll have a 12volt version of the 2k6d but I think they should. And I can't speak for why the amp is shutting off. I would assume that something is wrong with it. Our 7k's run for hours at 1ohm with minimal heat and the 7k 16volt version is two 2kd strapped in one case.

I would bet other 2k6d users could speak for there experience and say no issues running at 2ohms. But none the less it was a good test. Nice job.

And he claims it's 90% efficient //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

...saw this one coming from 8 miles away.

But a turd in a golden box...and at the end of the day you still have a turd, in a golden box.

Hmmm -- I missed this test, I was in Florida over the weekend. Informative results.

If you need another reference for an efficiency comparison:

"Yup... on a straight drop in test (in the middle of a show actually) ... my score jumped from a 149.3 to a 149.9 just by switching from a Stetsom to the pair of Sundowns.

In defence of the Stetsoms they are definitely built for 16v (as we have been starting to learn) ... but they're still supposed to do 5kw at 12v. I'm thinking it's much less than that due to their inefficiency though"

Test was Street-A style with one battery and car off. Two 1500Ds vs. one 7kd. This was done in September last year, surprised it's not more well known.

I thought it looked like a power inverter when i first saw the internals

Step Up converter, Power inverter We are on about the same page... Those of us that have some kinda of eye for design... Thanks for the input/ correction Chad...

Thats basically what my first impression was.. Never the less... I wouldn't personally run one and i'm not saying this just because... I've studied up on this just a lil bit and i feel that, for what i'm doing they would be no use to me and i'm NOT about to pay that much money for something i can get a Home-Depot and Mod it so that it will do the same exact thing the Stetsom does... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
