Stereo was stolen while at the getting repaired...

If the law says you're liable for something, you're liable. Signs don't mean jack. I could put a sign on windshield saying I can't be held liable if I cause an accident and injure somebody, doesn't mean Im off the hook if it ever happens.

Sorry to hear this unfortunate news //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

The car inside the shop

That's were mine is with a monitored security alarm system on the building.

or in a fenced in area

If it is, I make sure they have security cam(s) scoping it & barbed/razor wire on the fence...hopefully even a fence alarm. A rott/pit bull/doberman pincher roaming the grounds is good also.

* If it truly was a inside job though, some of the above mentioned security would have been compromised, but there are ways to find if a employee disarms the alarm by event recording...

Well the cops investigating my case are off until Mon, and there is no one that can talk with me...such BS...

I'm going by the police dept to pick up a copy of the police report

Man, that sucks, but at least you still have your car. Mine was stolen a few years ago now and they got away with over 10k from audio 5500, Rims/tires 2k and I had a shit ton of movie CDs and music CDS. close to 3g in just that. I only took my cutty to work 10 times in the 2 years I had it and the 1 day I was late, I had to park outside the fence as there was no where else to park, it got stolen and taken to the next city, and was gutted! They found the car beat to hell............so not only did they get all my shit, the beat and ruined a perfectly mint 85 Cutlass with only 86k on the clock. Car itself was easily worth 4k with out that shit in it.

Sorry to hear your about your situation. Deffintley sounds like an inside job. I imagine it was a ma and pa type shop, where you were getting your car fixed?

Sometimes it pays to pay more at a reputable auto shop that has good security and isn't in a shady area (or higher shady employees with backgrounds!)

Rule Number...

1. Never put anything in your car you wont mind losing.

2. If you think you'll mind losing it, get full insurance on it FIRST!

3. If you cancel your insurance, read No. 1 again.

found out today that in order to get a lawyer to handle this, it would cost me $1500...looks like I'm just gonna have to take a loss on this. I highly doubt the cops around here will find anything.
