Stereo looses sound when starting engine !

I recommend upgrading your headunits ground wire at least anyway since you put in a stronger, more demanding power source over factory.
Not sure how i would do this other than what iv already done ( Added an extra ground from the head units loom directly to a ground point )

Think i had it a bix mixed up earlier , The suggestions from the Z forum was/is to wire a live from the battery to the permanent live on the head unit's loom , Bypassing the cars perm live and hopefully cutting out the spike issues , il give this a try tonight , fusing the cable and see how it goes , i wouldn't have thought this would explain the head unit's display/menus etc still working ok but no sound though

Ok so update on this , Checked all the wiring and factory loom drops power as it starts the engine , nothing wrong with this its just how it works , old cd player was fine with it rebooted and worked , last cars CD player did same and never lost sound after coming back on.

Checked factory amp wiring and all ok , factory amp lead runs to head unit amp lead ect

Only way iv been able to get round it is wire the perm and ignition live together and switch it on before starting the car , only worry it that this drains the battery !

Any other ideas ?

spend another 3 hours on this , re earthed everything to a known good earth point , No change

Its going in the bin //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/violent.gif.ccf64f7a34b20886d220db2fbff36f3b.gif

OP I suggest running a new ground like said before. My factory ground was 12v at the harness but any kind of power draw from the headunit made the voltage drop way down and the headunit would shut off. I just took a spare piece of remote wire I had, wrapped it around the ground wire on my headunit, and wrapped it around one of the screws that holds my dash kit in. A ghetto fix but my headunit stays on fine, and the ground is good enough that I can use my voltage meter on it.

Iv got a ground wire going from a known good and tested earth point tapped into the headunits own loom ground cable and still the same
