crutchfield has a bunch of generic info tutorials which should at least give you a head start. Also, even better than any faq or whatever on the internet is to have a friend who knows what they're doing help you out.
well its pretty easy in a grand prix. i just re did my install for the 2nd time so if you have any car specific questions let me know. the basic is there is a place to run the wire through the engine bay on the passenger side up by about where your passengers feet would be, if you pull up the carpet you will see it. it already has a big wiring harness going though it. than from there route it to the battery and than you can than run the wire under the carpet down the side under the back seat to the trunk or you may be able to fit it under the door sills but i could not get 1/0 in there. any other just ask.

It would go something like this..(im assuming you only have the single battery up front for this)
-Disconnect negative battery terminal
-Securely connect a ring terminal to one end of a run of 1/0 gauge power wire (approx 15 feet long to reach the trunk...but measure with a rope or something of the sort to see how long it should be to reach where your amp will be and still have a little slack)
-Once the power wire run is cut to length and the ring terminal is on, you'll need to cut that run about a foot away from the ring terminal-end and put inline with this run a fuse holder with a 250 amp fuse or so (remember that fuses in your power wire are there to protect the wire, you, and the car if the run were to short out...your amp has sufficient protection for itself)
-Look towards the back of the car behind the battery in the engine bay for somewhere that the factory wires go through the firewall
-Run the non-ring terminal end of the power wire through an opening in the firewall
-You'll then need to find a way to hide the power wire run under the carpet/panels along the side of the car (in the interior)
-Once it's in the trunk, obviously, connect it to your amps positive power terminal..
-Now you'll need another run of power wire ready to make into your ground wire...You'll need to find a bolt in your trunk near your amp and take it off and clean it and the area with a wire-bristle brush and wipe it clean with a rag to make sure its a good connection.
-Secure a ring terminal on that ground-run of power wire and cut to length so it has a little slack going to that bolt-area you just cleaned..from your amp's negative power terminal..
-Secure the ring terminal onto the grounding point you just prepared and tighten down the bolt nice and firm..
-Connect the other end into your amp's negative power terminal
-You will now need to get to the back of your headunit to get to the remote wire and also your RCA connections..
-Put your RCA's in the sub-out RCA's and run them on the other side of the car as the power wire (general rule...but ive never experinced noise due to running them close to eachother)...these will be easily hidden by tucking them under body panels along the bottom of the outside of the interior....get them to the trunk and connect them into the 'input' RCA slots of your amp
-Now get a wire nut or a butt-splice (or solder and shrink-wrap...whatever, haha) and connect your headunits remote wire to a run of small power wire (around 14-18 gauge will work) and get it to the trunk again...and connect it to the remote terminal on your amp..
-Then just put your headunit back in and look over everything, making sure nothing is funky..
-Take the positive terminal off of your battery and put on the ring terminal from your power wire run and tighten it down (secure...but dont overdo it and break the battery's terminal)
-Then you can connect the battery's negative terminal...there might be some minor sparks (or slightly more than that, haha) but it's perfectly fine, you wont get shocked...just put the terminal on and tighten it down.

(you will also have to wire up your sub in all of that as well..)
