start up front and work your way back, or start from the back?

I know what is most common in the car audio realm, to get subs first and go from there. But i'd like to do it right this time. I can get $500 for my system and i have mono amp i can sell for another $200. I'm wondering if i should get my front system taken care of. (front comps, rear coaxes, and 4 channel amp) which would be over $400, i know that's not much for a whole front stage but it's the stuff i want. or should i keep my mono amp and use the $500 for 2 15s? I have some 6x9 pioneer rev coaxes that were amped but are now going to be run off the HU if i keep them. What is the better way? to start front and move back, or start in the sub area and work your way up getting a better front stage if needed?

well it really depends on what you want.

if it was me i would concentrate on the front before worrying about the sub.

but that is just my preference.

what i would do in your position is get a decent set of comps ($150 ish)

keep your revs in the rear.

and there is a powerbass 4 ch amp here for like 80 shipped.

use that for your speakers and you still have money money to get a good sub now.

and later down the road if you want you can upgrade to a pair of subs.

just my .02

I want to keep the revs, but my car is weird, it has 6x9s up front and 6.5 in the rear. I know upgrading the rears in most cases is pointless, but my back door speakers are really close to the front and some good coaxes would be nice.

try building baffles for the front and make 6.5 fit up there?

who needs rear speakers if the front can keep up

the rears are very close to the front and are very audible and having stock speakers back there might be noticable. Plus having front and rear would give a surround sound feel

I was kind of in the same situation with my Ranger. The rear speakers are about 8" from my head.

Let me just say this, I bought some coaxials to put back there, and within 2 days, I had the gain all the way down for them, and the head unit faded almost all the way up. They might as well have been off.

If you feed any power to the rear speakers, they will pull from the front sound stage like no other. It was a nice surround sound for movies, but other than that, on music, it pretty much sucked donkey balls.. lol

I am now just upgrading my front comps to some 6.5s, and have the rear speakers out permanently. Not even any type of rear fill.
