I just had a Alpine 4-channel amp installed thats powering Boston Pro 6.5 Components in the front and rear of my Jetta. The installer used the active Crossovers in the amp, deck and also the Passive Crossovers that come with the Boston Pro 6.5 components. Is it OK to use multiple crossovers like this or is it muddying up the sound running them like this?

it should be okay as long as you dont have more than one thing doing any particular task

example: the boston crossover and the deck crossover highpassing the tweeter.

what headunit and amps do you have. (with model numbers)

if i had to guess the crossover on the deck is just crossing over between the low end of the bostons and the subwoofer if you have one.

i am not sure what he would be doing with the amp crossover unless it is powering your sub.

and the boston crossover is taking care of the crossover point between the woofer and the tweeter.

but if you post what is in your system it will make it easier to guess what is going on.

Nothing wrong with using both. Like it was said he is using the HU Preouts to cut the low end Bass for a Sub. I assume your not running a Sub.

He is using the Amp for each set of speakers for the same reason.

Sorry,I should have listed my system equipment first. OK the system consists of the following: Alpine CDA-9835 deck

Alpine MRV-T757 2-channel amp. power for subs.

Alpine MRV-F407 4-channel amp for Boston components.

Boston Pro Series 8" 4ohm subwoofers.

Boston Pro Series 6.5 component speakers 2 sets for front and back of the

Volkswagen Jetta doors using their passive crossover network.
