hi lol let me ask you something... what could go wrong if i used a 4v pre-out of a car audio head unit to:

A) Connect em (L+R) to an auxiliary in of a home stereo micro system or of the computer?

B) Connect the pre-outs directly to a passive headphone?

C) Accidentally shorted the + and the - of the pre-outs ?

D) Accidentally touched the + of the RCA cable connected to my pre-out to the body of the amplifier with the battery on? (knowing the amp body is negatived and the hu preout is +, any risk of damage?)

well im asking this because i have 2 hu's here at home and lol i was thinking of doing some tests... one would be of course using a good headphone (not amplified) to test the hu's and compare to see which one has the best SQ.. the second would be to connect to AUX-In of a home microsystem or the LINE-IN of the computer sound card and record to a WAVE File of the hu's playing the same song so i could compare and share this WAV to people hear and tell me which one has the best SQ?

and the 2 other questions was to know if i did some shit because they actually happened LOL

waiting for answer.. buh bye fellas

yes you can

the RCA outs are not a source for current but for voltage, how much damage will there be?, damage will depend on the ohms load you put to it, you may kill the rca outs.

C) Accidentally shorted the + and the - of the pre-outs ?D) Accidentally touched the + of the RCA cable connected to my pre-out to the body of the amplifier with the battery on? (knowing the amp body is negatived and the hu preout is +, any risk of damage?)
any of those can damage the RCA outs of the HU as well when ever they're not being used they should be taped to avoid any grounding of the rca " that's what my HU manual states"

the headphones are 8ohms.. can any damage occur from it?
i think so. b/c, it would pull too much current off of the HU RCA out.

you can find out whats your RCA rms voltage and rms current from the manual,

then using ohms law, you can add a resistor in series with the 8ohms speaker to minimise current consumption from the RCA.
