Im going to try the 40-50 range a little while longer. Ill probably end up in the high 50s or 60s but almost as a last resort, but Ill do what I need to do to get in the 50s I suppose.

Well, try the 12x12x22 box. 2 4" ports firing externally. Have the box all the way up to the b-pillar and make the ports as long as you can. You can gradually chop down the port length until you get a balance of SPL and peak frequency that you can live with.

you CAN fit 2 4's inside that box, just mount them diagonally.

I have to relocate my amps by modding the toolbox so I can move the box up to the B pillar. I might do it this weekend since I have nothing else to do.

I can only make it so small with 2 4" Aeros and get tuning anywhere near good. I dont really want to burp in the 60s because its so unrealistic for real use. Drop it down to 1 aero?
Also I did 1.7 sub forward port back and it barely broke 42.x

r u saying u want to hit the lows well but at the same time be able to gets over 144db's...with 1 12

if so u needed 2 do more testing with the 6th order be4 u destryed it

atleast u got up in the 143 and change.thats half your battle done ....all u need was 2 tweak the port to tune lower

I dont care about flat response. I would just rather burp at a lower not than a higher note. I might revisit bandpass after I get a good base to compete with so I will have a good backup box while Im testing more complex plans.

i read this whole thread and tommyk seems to be the only one that has a clue about the building so far. (Not trying to diss anyone here.)

If you want to be loud you have to make your own aero ports and NOT use wood boxes.

he could care less about the lows he just wants the box to be for comps and be loud.

dont be mad cuz with a bandpass it can get louder than a ported box within the designed frequency range

Uh huh, keep telling yourself that.

I have yet to see any street class car prove this theory, but go ahead and continue on with your bandpasses. I'm sure not going to stop you, I get too much enjoyment out of it.

Hence why I had a car do a 143 in bassrace with 2 Crunch 12's, a 20.1 running at 1 ohm (less than 1000 actual watts), and a car with a dead alternator. This was in the trunk of a cavalier, FYI.
