Do people who spend 1,000's of dollars on 36 pound subs and 4k watt RMS system really ever use that?

I'm sitting in my car at half volume on just 4 70 RMS speakers with a full 70 going to them, and it gets nearly too loud for me. I find myself turning it down after a good bassy song.

I don't even have a sub amp yet, but I'll be only pushing 450 RMS when all is said and done, and it sounded decent on only 130 RMS bridged off the rear channels.

So if you are the 5k system driver, do you really use all of it daily?

Just wondering because this forum has alot of talk of crazy RMS systems and builds, and although I know some are for competitions, do people really build that stuff for DD's?

Some do....

What happens to me is that I get more expensive equipment, not always more RMS. It also adds up pretty quick. For instance

HU : $250

Mids : $375

Mid Amp: $300

Subs: $259

Sub Amp: $500+/-

Wires :$150

That's nearly $2,000...I got 2kw RMS....

I'm getting roughly 830 RMS for 1100 bucks when all is in. Plop 150$ on for 63 SQ yards of Raamat.

Also my next deck is going to be 700-ish, so I guess it'll be more like 1800 bucks when I finally get it all.

I just don't understand 4 15" 3k watt rms systems for DD's (unless it is the DD as well). I'd find the subs to be entirely way too overpowering, and ruin the warmth and natural sound of the music.

My competition vehicle is my daily driver, yes.
You get used to it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
That's a nice way of saying you lose your hearing so it doesn't seem as loud //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

who runs 36lb subs?

those are for loser's

and 4k watts is junk, gotta be atleast 5k to be cool, durh

yes, people build that much for daily, but most people that build it for daily are going to compete some, or the other way around

It's all a matter of personal choice...some people actually can take it and want more...

Ever notice how some folks want to skydive and others you can't even get near a plane?

It's the same kind of issue...different folks require varying levels of "stimulation"

Yes, I would say that many people who have big subs actually put them to use and "crave" more daily...kinda like that caffeine hit in the morning!

Have you ever sat in a really loud car? In a way it's like an adrenaline rush...and a really, really loud cars almost puts me in a weird state (almost like an alterered state of consciousness).....

See, I like my music, but I guess I like to Listen, understand and repeat it rather than 'feel' it haha.

I've been in a 2k watt RMS car, and it was insane. I'm not going to lie, it was impressive, but it wears itself out after a few days. Although it is extremely fun to listen to the newest stuff coming out music-wise and hear it on a ridiculous system haha.

To each his own. I guess I don't understand because I'm a broke *** //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

it really is.....my shits so loud that after about 10 minutes of full tilt i have a buzz almost......but that buzz goes hand and hand with another 10min of full tilt that results in a headache...kinda like heroin, gotta not overdose lol....

36lbs subs are for *******, mines 72lbs and take 4kW RMS //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif only takes 2.5kW to make it wang chung

and yes we are crazy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

is 147.2 on the TL at 30hz loud enough? oh and at the headrest! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I love loud and low

Mine most definitly isn't the loudest, but it gets the job done for me... For now:up2somet: All I got is the deck pushing about 20wrms to each of the 4 speakers, and then I have a measly 150wrms going to each of my 2 12" subs. Even in the trunk it will rattle the coins in the ash tray and leave you feeling some good vibrations. However even this small system I do at times find too much so for me I have a switch wired in on the amp turn on lead so for instance at a stop light I can kill the subs but keep the music playin, and for those times you just don't want the bass, maybe early in the morning or slow driving in a residential neighborhood. When I want the bass though just flip the switch and I got it all right there, planning on this same for the next system but only with about 5k rms on the sub stage and couple hundred into the mids/highs.

Again its all about personal preference, I too like it to be mostly even but I enjoy the kick, many feel its nice to have the power when you want it instead of being stuck there desiring a little extra ooomph.
