So what does SQL stand for?
And if he runs 2 subs.....he can achieve 2000 daily.
Not saying it stands for anything but you said there is "no such thing" when alls people really mean when they say it is just what you said "subs that sound good and get loud"... And yes thats true but I figured he wanted something that will take that power apiece

SQL= Sound Quality Loudness, as in, gets loud without sounding like shit, or a good sounding system that still gets loud. It should be obvious the SQL is a middle ground between SPL and SQ. It might not be a technical term, but is a more accurate than saying I want a mix of SQ and SPL, because neither of those terms go together. So what we did here is establish a new term to define what a lot of daily listeners want, SQL.

Exactly... So saying it doesnt exist is kinda dumb since eveyone uses the term lol

Agreed it seems to be the trent of you want spl you get a sub thats got a lot of excursion and a heavy *** motor and itll hit really hard but you play anything with a uptempo beat or real instruments it gets muddy. SQL i personaly consider a sub or sub line like the id Q that sound amazing then add a slightly bigger motor etc and you have a little bit more power with a slight sq loss obviously.

But back on topic i could live with 2k total although i do think they can handle a slight bit more but if 2k is the most total rms on 2 i think i might consider 3 10s.. slight bit more cone area same box size but another 1k plus i have 3500 and id rather use it up then ride at half my amp.

Everyone uses a term of which no one knows what it stands for. Thats interesting.

It covers too broad a range to really mean anything specific. I originally used it when I got back into the scene, but quickly realized that it means nothing. Any sub out there could be a "sql" sub, depending on the listener.

Now using the terms, Accurate, and Meter's High, have merit. They can be measured. Loud and Sounds Good is subjective to the listener.

But thats why we start threads like this so he can know what subs everyone else thinks gets loud and sounds good doing it lol

I don't disagree, but there is no term for what people want. SQ is subjective too, only SPL is measured. What some consider SQ might be SQL to others, and vice versa. So this term not being defined is ok, because neither is sound quality.

Well in all fairness im pretty sure you cant use those either. So and so might install better than other buddy so he might get an extra 2 3 4dbs etc. Not to mention different cars can also play a part in it too so realistically nothing can measure output unless you put every sub in a standardized room with 0 things in it with same power etc but even then the car will play a part in the acoustics.
