Woofer inductance and the box itself are the two biggest factors when it comes to transient response. Get yourself a low inductance woofer that works well in small-med sized ported boxes(or one that can dig low in a sealed box) and you're set.

Uhh... I have about 20 years of real life experience with kick drum and bass guitar hitting subwoofers in PA systems. An properly powered 18, in a proper cabinet, can play every note I play on bass, and every kick a REALLY fast drummer can play on double bass. Do you think they are running 10's in a PA system when you go to a show?
Where did this size comparison come from? i didnt say my 10s have best SQ, 12s and 15s and 18s **** for SQ. If i did please quote it because i really dont remember saying that...

All i said was my fosgates are crap SQ and on fast beats they get sloppy and it doesnt play all the beats right.

Now how did that result in u telling me about 18s, and 10s?

All i was pointing out is i want my next sub purchase to be a very SQ oriented sub and NOT sound sloppy and crappy like my fosgates.

But thanks for getting all rude and such for no apparent reason when i just explained my real life experience and describing what im looking for in my next sub purchase.

I agree but it costs more than most 15" subs. IDMAX 10 is $400 12 is $450

why spend that money when i could spend $264 for a 15 that will blow that idmax out with output anyways.

but comparing say FI Q 12" to an Image dynamics 12 how much of a difference SQ wise? even noticeable?

Which image dynamics sub are u talking about?
IDQ12v2 its $150 so ill spend $300 for 2, or $300 for incriminator flatlyne 15", or $265 for 15" FI Q.

i guess my biggest fear is say i go with the 15" FI Q, yes we all know it will get looooooud but its going to have comparable SQ to Image dynamics stuff? ive heard people say IDMAX gets looooud but it loses its SQ compared to IDQs. this only makes me believe it more if they cant even go loud without losing SQ in some people's opinions.

ID Q = strictly SQ

ID Max = SQL, great sound quality, while getting decently loud

What do you think loud is OP? What kind of vehicle? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

dodge dakota, i took one of the back seats out behind me and box will be there.

i had 2 fosgate punch 2 12s off of 400 watts, i think the punch 3 12s would be all i could handle, any more and i would just be turning them down. Loud is fine, but hurting my ears is not what i want.

ID Max is out of question its out of my budget. im fine with it being loud, i just want to maintain SQ. So is there something like the ID Max but under $300, thats why ive been looking at the incriminator flatlyne and FI Q. im not limiting myself to those but thats just whats been suggested.

If ID Q =strictly SQ

what is the regular ID line?
