SQ deck, opinions needed

The question is... Will an e-bay seller still be around 3 years from now? My guess is 99% of them won't.
square trade is a huge corperation, not an ebay seller

but still internet warranties ****. cause you gotta ship out and wait and stuff. i just gotta take my deck into Good Vibrations, then theyll give me a brand new 1 on the spot. he he

though that is true about internet warranties in that you have ship your unit out and wait for repair, when i bought my eclipse unit through a local AUTHORIZED dealer and i was having problems with it, they didnt just give me a new one on the spot. they sent mine to california for repair. i'm sure this isnt the case for every car stereo shop, but it certainly happened to me.

yeah im sure it varies with every shop. ive talked to this guy b4 about warranties when i was looking for a 9855. and he told me the same thing. at his shop, the only decks they will straight up exchange on the spot is eclipse. and they only do it with the high end models. but even if i had a low end model, he said all he would have to do is make a call, theyd ship a new 1 down, then hed ship the broken 1 back. thatd only be a few days at most. but mines a high end model //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

This is deffinitly shop dependent. Where I work if we have a new deck in stock and are treated with respect generally we will swap the customer no questions asked. If we do not have it in stock, then we will pull it out and take it to service for the customer, and it is back generally within a week for a normal CD player (longer if it needs to be sent do the manufacturer, and can't be repaired at the authorized local repair facility)

Does the 7998 support sirius? I know it supports xm but i have no idea about the sirius.

Ohh and the eclipse 8445, does this have as good of an internal crossover as the alpine 7998 or 9835?

Good question:eyebrow:
I just stopped at the Eclipse dealer in my area to play with the new Eclipse amps (yea the only one that doesn't frekin sell tailpipes and wheels:mad: ) and talked to the owner who is an ecoustical engineer by trade and really knows his $hit. His shop used to be the biggest Alpine dealier in the midwest up until a few years ago before Alpine started slipping in quality and now just sells "crap" - his words, not mine. He said what really sets the Eclipse decks apart from the rest is the low output inpedence and the onboard digital processing. He said that the new 2005's have even greater sq capabilities because of this...apparently Eclipse upgraded some of the chips in the new decks.

In terms of sq and quality he recommends Eclipse, then Clarion, then Kenwood....and his best selling deck is the 8445 because it's hard to justify an extra $100 for a 10 band eq and the other minor differences - again his words not mine.

So what it boils down to is getting what you want as far as needed features (pause button) and then finding the best sq you can for the $$$....it's easy:crazy:
Where is this shop? I havent been able to find anything good around here.

not convincing you that alpine's better, just reminding you: don't buy Eclipse if you're not gonna have the extended warranty from they...

that warranty that will assure you a new hu in case the unit gets stolen... because the goddam faceplate isnt detachable

well id never buy a deck based on whether or not its got a detachable faceplate. if a decks gonna get stolen, its getting stolen, faceplate detached or not. im relying on the fact that i live in a suburban neighborhood and i have a viper 790xv alarm

Not sure what you mean by good but in Pro Mode it has 6,12,18,24 selections for HP at 63,80,100,125,160,200 Hz.

Transportation Electronics. The best in the area that I've found so far. About 1 mile east of 169 on Excelsior Blvd in Hopkins. The owner, Ben, is a great guy to talk to and knows a $hit load about electroics...he will answer all your questions...for hours if you want...and won't pressure you to buy anything...he may be a little opinionated but he backs it up well. Check them out...the rest of the shops except maybe Mach1 and Sound Waves off Hwy 10 in Ramsey are freaking knuckleheds....ESPECIALLY Bass Zone (hope no one reading this works there, but they are a bunch of tards IMO!!)

Oh yea...no hard feelings Ryan, glad you found a killer deal on one....that 3 year warranty is worth $300 alone:)
yeah, but i can almost guarantee i wont have this deck that long. ill have to REALLY friggin love this deck for me to keep it for 3 years. and even then, id prolly get rid of it sooner for a newer model. :sigh:

Newer doesn't exactly mean better, for all you know everyone could release crap for the next 3 years.
