Splaudio's custom subs thread

i have an old earthquake dbx10 the the cone has come unglued from the sider, the surrond is unglued from the cone and one of the voice coils reads 0hms. lol i know its thrashed. is it worth being reconed? or can i use the motor on a 12 inch basket? i have no interest in doing this project myself, so any opinions on what i should do with this sub are welcome. please pm me with an estimate on a recone or basket + recone to transform it into a 12.

thanks alot

i will post pix of ur build as soon as i drill and tap the tss motor //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

took thurs and fri off work to go riding cause i have been work 60hrs a week at my day job for 5 months and needed a break.

got the tss motor all transfer punched and center drilled just gotta get it on the drill press.

i gotta write a program to machine a alum plate to convert small bolt pattern to standard, so its just bolt and go. just too bizy with other things rite now. it will be alot quicker and more accurate. i hate drilling and tapping top plates when they are attached to the motor...

i cleaned out my pm's again sorry guys...

hard to see cause its clear but there is a bunch of epoxy on the triple joint after it was ca glued. 18s always gotta beef up there =P
Pole plug those T3 motors for much better power handling. I did the "high school kid" test on that *laughs*

Built him one without the pole plugged and he destroyed it thermally -- he got a re-cone but I added a pole plug and he says it doesn't even smell funny now. Gets the thumbs up from me.

Jake, will have 2 try that on a higher power build. this sub is built for only 1500rms & has a nice copper coil //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i didnt use my basket risers eather i drill a small hole in each spoke to let a lil thermal out.

this is a HUGE upgrade from the lil rf hx2 punch he sent in...

the tss cough dd 9500g is a really nice motor. instead of the 4 wide slots and a tighter gap would rather a spline cut pole and tight gap //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

tuckin' its shipping friday, so you will have soon. heavy 18s take a bit to pack up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

bassin; not sure the gap:(

usually with the single voice coil subs the gap is alot tighter because of the smaller dia winding. would need measurments of the pole od and top plate id to confirm. i can pop the top plate and bore then realign and glue but depends if the motor is really worth doing this?
