send me the motor and i will build you a ssx 8". it will be spider limited but will have 2" of throw.

couldn't you do the 10" basket and help with that possibly? just thinking of pic on first page.

oh no doubt i could and it would take more of a beating.

the ssx isnt a high excursion motor the 1 i built has a limit of 29mm rearward excursion til there is a problem of the former tapping the back plate. the backplate isnt undercut like so many other motors out there offering more excursion. most spl sub arent high excursion and there is always a limit on every sub.

Gonna have to snap a few pics of a sub and see if you can build me a frankenwoofer. I have a 12 inch stroker here and the soft parts are just done. They are probably severely limited in excursion compared to todays subs also. I am thinking it would be possible to make an adaptor plate so that the motor could be bolted up to a standard 12 spoke basket and maybe some nicer soft parts used. Sub uses a 3 inch four layer coil and from what I understand the gap is super tight.

spooney; i would need measurments of the pole od and top plate id. i could redrill the motor for a standard basket too. i plan when i get caught up at work to make adapter plates 4 sho.

Not sure if this sub even has a top plate. I think there are bolts that go through the back of the motor / magnet assembly all the way through the basket. You can see the nuts holding the motor together right next to the spider. I will have to pull the sub from the box again to get a better look.

it has to have a top plate or the motor wont work...

I will get some pics of it up in the next day or so. Not sure If I wanna tear out the soft parts yet even though she is whooped to all hell. I am still debating whether or not I wanna make a frankenwoofer or get her reconed back to original.
