Sometimes to T-taps do not bite through the sheathing.
Just to make sure; you did disconnect the speakers from the headunit?

No, i didn't disconect from the head unit, I didn't want to remove the head unit thats why I used the t-tap and tapped into the speakers from the trunk, after i identified what was front and back speakers, left and right, positive and negative. I'm thinking the t-taps might have severed the connection meaning they cut through the strand inside the cables... I made sure that they would bite deep enough, maybe I went to deep???

I didn't understand your reply larrydavid...
What I meant is if you severed the wires going from the head unit to the front speakers. If not, then the power from the amp will be looping back into the headunit and cause a short.

How do I correct that?
Get ready for theory and practical theory from Mr Mitchell Fosgate. The last time I tried to bend time I had better luck than trying to follow his advice. He's a baffle em' /w/ bullshit guy, the science is another thing I think.
Instead of the t-taps, cut the wires and splice them into the LOC or amp's high input terminals. Then the other cut wires that go into the speakers will splice into the amp's output terminals.
What car is this amp going in?

I believe its 18 guage, it quite thin
22-18 guage
For 1 I would recommend what 1aespinoza said to splice wires instead of t-taps
How exactly did you wire it up
You tapped into the speaker wire and ran that into the loc wires then ran the rca's into the aftermarket amplifier
Did you cut the wire that was going from the t-tap to speaker so you can plug it into the amplifiers speaker output directly?
Also can you confirm if you have the standard stereo or the upgraded bang and Olsfen stereo?

As of right now I cut the wire for my left front door speaker and iI connected the neg and pos LOC wires to it, RCA is connected to the LOC and the amp.Speakers are still hooked up to the factory harness at the door.
In have the standard stereo
