speaker wire

will rca's make a difference?
Yes, HUGE. Im not even kidding.

But that is because the voltage is low, speaker level, on the otherhand, is less suseptible to distortion. So unless it is in a VERY noisy environment turned speaker wire is turned speakerwire.

At the output voltage levels of your amplifier, adding noise via the speaker wires isn't going to happen. Its not even worth mentioning.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Ive used some home speaker wire in a car before and had trouble with it oxidizing (clear shielding, wire turned green) but Im not sure another brand/type would have changed that situation.

If you think your system requires anything over 12ga speaker wire, 99.9999 times out of 100 you'll be wrong. The other 0.0001% of you are professional SPL competitors and already know what you're doing. 8ga speaker wire? What a joke. Strictly for looks...

which is why I said in a VERY noisy environment. I had a power supply induce a 60Hz signal into a line voltage wire. VERY faint but it was there and that was in home.

In car it is extremely unlikely. Noise induction on low level inputs is a deffenite possibility.

Unlikely isn't even the word for it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif When you have speaker wire and signal level wire within the same 10'x15' space (car interior), one running a few volts and the other running dozens, any induced noise great enough to overcome the sound floor on the speaker wire would have already completely drown out the signal voltage in the other wire (RCA's). This is why the vast majority of the time, its not even worth mentioning noise being introduced into speaker wire, it just doesn't happen.

In conclusion, this is why speaker wire is speaker wire, and doesnt matter the quality.

That adds a nice ending to the thread.
