Speaker suggestion

I'm looking to upgrade the sounds in my weekend cruiser, a chopped top 78 Monte Carlo. Am I limited to what speakers would sound good due to no top and placement of the speakers? Really Not trying to do any cut outs in the interior if possible..

the fronts I think are 3" speakers mounted in the dash, it's behind some fabric covering.. there's no holes in the doors and no place in the back so i have 6x9s in boxes on the floor behind the seats.. I will also be looking for an amp to power the speakers. For now the HU is an older pioneer DEH 4000U .. subs are 2 SA8 v3s on a TS 1.8k

Budget is around 500 for speakers and amp, preferably used.. right now got stock electrical but will upgrade when my other car is sold
@Jeffdachef I think I've seen some fiberglass kick panels on Craigslist.. should i not use 6x9s in boxes behind the seats??
When you go to any concert, does it make sense to turn your back to the artist?....... If you want any sense of sound quality, kick panels are the way to go. Front stage always takes precedence over anything in the rear.

Ok that makes sense.. any speaker suggestions? If i use anything somewhat higher quality they need to be sound deadened right? Or does the fiberglass make a difference for the sound?

no need for deadener, its already in an enclosure. Most you'll want to do is a lilttle polyfill

some crescendo un 6.5s (or 8" if you can fit it) and a pair of image dynamics XS28s should do pretty well. Swap out the UN 6.5s for crescendo pwx if you want warmer more midbassy sounding mids. UNs will be louder and clearer.

I just checked the biggest I could go is 6.5s due to space on the driver side, but that's a problem too cuz the emergency brake is right in the way of where the speaker would go.. the local guy on Craigslist selling kick panels says his are made for 5 1/4s but can be modified for 6.5s.. but the emergency brake pedal is so close I don't wanna buy them and be stuck with them not able to use them..

It shouldnt be too bad. I have 10" midbass in the kick and i can still use the e brake thats right next to it.
