Speaker static noise, popping

After i hooked up a speaker and tweet for a test and turned the car on, the speaker that was being run off my amp popped. Then it proceeded to have a noticable static noise. This static noise persisted even when the hu volume was turned completly down. When i change songs, the speaker pops. When i turn off the car, there is s several second pause then the speaker pops. When the gain on the amp is turned up, the static and popping gets louder.

I isolated the rear stock speakers which are run off of the hu power and they do not have static nor do they pop.

A while ago i sparked an amp ground (not attatched to the amp at the time) to the distro block for my (+) batt. After that my HU started to crackle and electrical burning scent came from the hu. Im not sure how a amp ground and a batt (+) could feed back to my hu and fry it, but they did and it made some noises.

My hu works fine other than the noises, but Larry over at fullsizechevy.com seems to think it may be my hu due to the previous hu event where it crackled and burned.

To me, all of the signs seems to point to the fact that this is my amp beacuse the stock speakers are not displaying any of these problems and they are being run off the hu. One the speaker that is running off of my amp is making these noises. Any ideas on what this could be?

Thanks.

Check your gains. Sounds like your amp is replicating everything it gets from input. Including line noise and unwanted pops, clicks, and hisses.

Is this hooked up to a record player? They used to CREATE sounds like this.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif
