Speaker Setup ??????'S

I have 1972 pontiac Grandville that I'm putting aftermarket stereo in. My question is that I have a set of componet speakers for the door pods and 3 1/2 for the dash(all infinity reference series) was wondering if I should set these up as a 3way set up and put the 6.5 and the 3.5 together in a pod on the door and mount the tweeters in some custom pods in the dash or should I keep the 6.5 and it's tweeter in the door and put the 3.5 in there original spot the dash? Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I should add that they are going to be amplified and 6x9's are in the rear deck?

Not without serious processing. If you aren't going active do yourself a favor and just put some components in the doors.

Sound deadening is your friend, especially in old american iron

Puke, I just read about the 6x9's. Replace those with some subs and never look back.

I'm going to parrot what M5 stated... focus on the front stage by getting yourself some nice 6.5" comps and amp them appropriately. Rip those 6x9's out of the rear deck so a sub can vent into the cabin. You won't need to go crazy on the substage. Even a small budget sub in a tiny sealed box on a smallish amp will mesh better with a decent front stage than 6x9's could dream of doing.

The rear 6x9 are for rear fill I have 2 twelves for the trunk just wanted to know how to properly put the fron together. you see my dash has slot for 3 speakers 2 31/2's and a 4x10 in the center. So I thought that spliting my componets on the door and putting the dash with the 61/2's. this is what I was trying to do I have a set of 61/2 componets, 31/2's and 6x9's. I wanted to use the woofer from my 61/2's and the 31/2's on the door pods the tweeters where the orignal 31/2 slots and run them off a 3way crossover, is this wise and is it even possible?

Reread my first post. A simple component set is all you should do.

Removing the 6x9's will help as well.
