i installed 2 6.5" infinity 6012i's in the doors and 2 9612i 6x9's in the rear but im kind of dissapointed in the bass of the speakers in general. The door panels of the car seem like a cheap plastic and I think that may be one reason. Also new holes were drilled for 6x9's in the rear and the tweeters are in the same position as the stock 6.5"s would be so that isnt a problem but I was expecting better sounding bass out of them. The bass throughout has a kind of "plasticy" sound to it. Can anybody tell me the best possible way to mount the 6x9's in a 6.5" location in the rear and how to give the speakers their full potential in terms of sound...I'm very new at this and any suggestions would be appreciated.

You'll never get amazing sounding bass from 6.5's or 6x9s. You should have nice midbass response though.

Are you running the speakers off the head unit or an amp? Amping them will liven them up if you just have them on the HU

I'm running them off my pioneer DEH-1600 head unit. I know I wont have very nice bass but I've heard better with lower quality speakers..I was just wondering if there is a way to make it sound better with my cheap plastic interior, maybe dynamat?
