quick hu wiring question

my car harness and alpine harness has the illumination wires, but do i need to hook them up? one of the installers at bestbuy was saying i dont need to hook them up, but i already connected them. will it make a difference if theyre connected or not?

no u dont need to hook them up, if u do i believe ur lights on the radio dim and i dont think u want that happining

It dims when you turn your lights on, because they take into account you only usually turn your lights on at night.

For us Subaru owners, it gets annoying, as we usually turn the headlight switch on when we get the car and never think of it again.

I always hook them up; most head units allow you to disable the dimmer function if you don't want to use it. It won't hurt anything to leave them disconnected, and it won't hurt anything to connect them.
