just out of curosity... and assume im talking about a pair of speakers that are rated 100% accurate..

say they handle 100 rms - unless stated otherwise - that rating is used assuming no passover setting is used...? correct?

 
Power rating is based on published frequency range, or starting from the resonate frequency on up... also, the ratings may specify a crossover.

Take a tweeter for example... response, 1,500 - 22KHZ, 200 watts (with 2,000 hz or higher crossover)

If you cross it over lower, power handling will go down... sometimes dramatically, as in the case of a tweeter. You have to read the entire published specs and not take them out of context, or call the co.
