Well my system is laking some midrange big time.

All I have is some 3.5's in the dash no rear stage and two 12" Type R's in a 4ft^3 35hz box.

I want to put some 5 1/4" speakers in my door buy I am afraid of there not being enough room for te windows to go down and kickpods and door pods would cost me $120 per door so I thought why not make a few layers of speaker rings and use those as a doorpod.

What are your thoughts and opinions on this?

Depends really , check and see how much room you actully need. Pull the panel off and find a good place to mount the driver. Then see if, or how much of a clearance issue you have. If it's not much , sure go for rings . Flush mount the drivers and grills. Then round over the edges and paint it to either match the door panel , or the grills. If you need a lot of clearance, then you need to start looking at glassing . But I doubt you have to go that far . //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If your talking a matter of an inch or so . Why not just use rings ? Not expensive, or hard to make them look just like part of the grills //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

How much on average would a shop charge to make and install some fiberglass door pods or kick pods even.

I would rather hae door pods just becuase I don't like the idea of less foot/leg room and I can fit atleast two 5.25" or 2 6.5" speakers in each front door.

I also need to figure out how I am going to tap into the rear speaker wiring behind the HU so that I can cutthe power for the non existant rears to the doors and that I already know will be a PITA and I am afraid I'll have to pay for that too!

I'd do the pods myself but I hate fiberglass with a passion.I used to have a job sanding boat hulls for repairs and what not and I always got the shit in my skin.

I also surf so I am familiar with fiberglass repairs but pods seem much more complicated then repair job on a surfboard.

Like The whole cardboard template deal,I don't really get it,it seems to me that you would get a fugly pod?
