Speaker recomendation

Hello,

I'm new here and I have a 03 Kia Rio. The stock speakers in the doors are really high on the treble. So much that I get a really hard slap from the drivers side window when it is up. The stock speaker size is 5.25 or so says Crutchfield. Anyone suggest any coaxials? Preferably ones that aren't unnecessarily harsh, and do not distort at loud volumes.

I mainly listen to hard rock and classic rock among others. I appreciate the help.

Good chance the distorton is caused by the factory HU. BTW

sounds like you need some sound deadner. Trebel won't really make your doors rattle or "slap" bass does.

Yeah I could use the deadner, I am partially deaf in my right ear so things sound diffrent to me. I don't have the stock HU, I have a Alpine CDA-9823, came with the car when I bought it. I am picking up some Dynamat after I get my amp and sub hooked up next week. Your front speakers are 6.5" with 3" of mounting depth...... your rears are 6.5" and 2" of mounting depth if you have a sedan and 5.25" and 2" of mounting depth if you have the hatchback... first things first... I recommend that when you are done (if you are looking for quality) that you only have front speakers (or some cheap pioneer rear fills for the passengers if you rly care about them and are on a budget... just fade forward all the way when you are driving and there is noone in the back...)

OK heres the question of the day, what is your budget? are you after loud loud..... or as high quality as can be managed with your budget?

I still vote that any coaxil can probably distort at high volumes when powered by the HU.

My budget is probably 100.00 for now, I'm after quality that still sounds better at higher volumes. For the most part I keep the volume pretty low, and the rears aren't as bad as the front, I tweaked the EQ a bit and it's better except for when I really crank it from 15 or 16 where I usually have it to 18 or 19. And it's the sedan not the hatchback.

And it's not really a rattle:

I can't really explain it other than if you've ever been to a indoor shooting range that has concrete walls if you stand next to the wall you get a really bad slap kind of like a echo off the wall but in this case it's off the window.

You can be the first to try out my budget design who knows if it will be awesome or not since I haven’t put it together yet... At the very least it will be ultra linear and distort less than your head unit thats for sure...
