Speaker mounting depth

I have a 2001 Acura CL Type S and was hoping one of you installers may have some experience w/ this type of car. What is the speaker depth on the doors? I've tried Crutchfield and Acurazine; nobody seems to have an answer. I have a set of Type X comps and they are 2.75" deep. I'm hoping I can use an MDF ring for a spacer but don't know if I will be able to pull the door liner over it and keep the stock look.

Take a day off and try it, if you are interested in car audio this should be a plesant adventure for ya... whats the worste that could happen. You discover it doesn't fit... We have all been there.

Don't use CrutchFields recommendations because chances are their information is wrong. They claimed my friends 05 corolla used 4" speakers in the front, but long and behold they were 6.5"s....

I was planning on taking all of my equipment to a local installer and having them do it. I just didn't want to suddenly find out that they have to cut a hole in the door panel. Also, if they are too deep I was considering making a set of kicks. That fiberglassing sticky looks very tempting!
