Speaker location

I need some help from someone with Plymouth Sundance experience.

I read almost everywhere that my sundance has 5x7 in the back but in my car at the location where there are supposed to be there is no grill for the speakers like there should be. This leads me to believe that I have no rear speaker locations.

So I would most likely want to put some 6x9's in and I was thinking of putting them in the shelf just behind the back seat. The only problem is the shelf is somewhat flimsy so would there be too much vibrations from the speakers.

Can anyone with some experience please help me out.

sometimes they are hidden from view, or maybe they are on the door. it might be on that back shelf or the door, so search for them or from where the sound is coming from and then let us know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Really you dont "have" to have rear speakers. If you have the front speakers set up correctly for a good soundstage, rear fill is not totally neccessary. Have you pulled the body panels off to look behind and see if there are cutouts. Maybe you can get body panels from another Sundance that have the grill holes. Cars come with different levels of options and maybe your car didn't have that option when it was made..

I can't listen for where the speakers are because they are none currently.

What about the rear deck panel. would there be too much vibration because they are not totally secure. I have seen pictures of other peoples sundances on sounddomain.com that have cut holes in the rear shelf and put in 6x9's.

Not sure if your gettting what I am saying. Its possible that the sheet metal is cut for speakers in the back but that the interior panels in YOUR car arent made for speakers. Another Sundance might have the interior panels that are perfed for the speakers. U could swap those out and put speakers into the factory locations if there are any. I am not sure if your car even came with rear speakers as an option. If it does its probably easier to put speakers in the factory locations than to cut the rear deck. And really you probably dont even need to have rear speakers...

I wanted to put 6x9's in the back of my car but they wouldnt fit and the rear shef was to flimsy to put them in so all i did was get some mdf place your old shelf over it and draw around, then just cut the new mdf into shape and cut the holes for the 6x9's. Carpet it and just swap the brackets over from the old shelf to the new. Then if you want in the future you can replace the old shelf if you want to sell the car. If you do the job carefully its looks good and is a stanle enough platform for the speakers. You just have to make sure that the front speakers are set up properly to fill in the sound thats missing from the middle part of the car. Mine sounds great and also looks good and its a pretty cheap and affordable solution. But hey thats just my opinion!!
