i just hooked up my loc and when i play my system for a while i smell burning but its coming from my 6x9's any it never smelled before any idea why its doing that

Overheating the voice coil. The easiest way to overheat a voice coil is to send it a clipped signal. If the loc has an adjustment on it, it has to be set properly so it doesn't clip the signal, and of course the amp also has to have the gain set properly.

but its the 6 x9 theres no amp going to it

Is this in the rear deck? Are your amps mounted in the trunk underneath them? Maybe the smell is coming from the amps (or something close to the amps), and the smell is coming up through the rear deck, making you think it's the 6x9's making the smell?
