Sound System help!.

First of all.. i'm new here.. as everyone knows!.. and i'm not an expert in car audio what-so-ever and i don't know a SINGLE thing in car audio, i just love tuning and racing.

Secondly i didn't know where to post this thread... soo i posted it here.. if i'm in the wrong place.. move my thread to another section..!

i need help....

i've got a "94 S320 and i got bored of the old Mercedes-benz speakers ..!

soo i talked to a friend of mine... and i told him about audiobahn and he told me it isn't that great in performance but it surely looks good, and he told me i could get better performance with the same price..my budget is 1000BD that's about $6000-$7000

and another friend of mine suggested the JL W7 13" and he said that the JL W7 12" is better.. and he got Subwoofers and he said it's amazing but he didn't tell me the Brand but i should have 2000wattRMS (whatever that means)

and he has 2 Eclipse titanum sub 15" that he wants to sell... and he wants to sell one for $400 and the both for $750

and he said that the JL amplifier 1000/1 is over-priced... and i could get better for less money...!

and that it's cheaper in the U.S..

the reason that i said that Audiobahn doesn't perform that good is because a friend of mine built up a system on his Durango that costed him about $13,000-$15,000 and he isn't satisfied with it and another friend built up a small system on his 996 TT and he isn't satisfied either..!

and another friend has 3 Subs on his Navigator that sounds terriffic (west customs)..!

i'm confused..!

soo i'd appreciate help

PS.. I DON'T know anything about sound systems... nothing at all...!!!!!!!

Well, for the most part sounds like your friends are right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Audiobahn does ****, and there is much better available for the money. The JL W7 is a great subwoofer (currently the "benchmark" subwoofer), but is mighty expensive. Those Eclipse Titaniums are great subs aswell. All JL stuff is over priced, though I don't think you could find "better" for a lower price....though you definitely could find comparable products for less money.

I guess I don't really see a real question in there, you just basically had a conversation with yourself and that is all...LOL. Do you want recommendations on what gear to get? If that is so, then you need to give us some ideas on what you are after; pure sound quality, sound quality that gets extremely loud or do you just want to be plain loud? How much room do you have to work with? Do you want to replace everything (headunit, interior speakers, etc etc) or just add a sub and amp? That type of stuff.

Also, is this a race car of any kind, or is speed/handling a concern with this car? If so, then you'll want to be conscious of this as many subwoofers can weigh 60lbs alone, and when in a sturdy box can be upwards of 200lbs. well i want EXTREMELY good sound quality and i definitely want Bass

that means i need pure sound quality that gets extemely loud..!! (i guess)

yaa.. and i do want to replace Everything.. especially the head unit and the speakers.... and add subs and amp.... i don't want to have GIGANTIC sub woofers...it's not a jeep after all and it isn't my car... i'm just using it until i get my ride and my licence..!

The car is a Mercedes Benz S320 1994, it's a sedan.. it weights around 1.8tons

it's a daily used car... i'm just gonna fit a BRABUS catalytict conveter and exhaust tips to have better noise.. and 18" BRABUS rims.
