what percent of sound comes from port vs driver? 50/50? someone was trying to tell me all the sound comes from the port. i was like noway. im saying 50/50. because you gain 3 db just like adding another driver right?

i am trying to figure out if i want ports facing trunk or cabin. about to build a box.

Most people have better success with the box facing the trunk, but just try it out both ways and see what you like better

3db gain yes, but only around the tuned frequency.

More air comes from the port. And you get better low end. And ported boxes are louder ( if built right, and not sloppily thrown together with plywood )

But as far as facing goes, you want to face your subs towards your back bumper.

If you face them towards the cab, you get a lot of out of phase sound, and it cancles out the sound that's in phase.

ok so i will face the sub to the back . should i port the box into the cabin through the ski pass thru or just port it into the tiny 8 cf trunk?
