blown sub

Hook the coils up to a battery and see if the sub moves. If the sub is blown there will be no movement.

not your car battery, a small battery like a 9 volt or something.

well sadly somehow my bx1500d crapped out at a 2 ohm load even though ive put it on .5 ohm for burps before. Wonder how much it will be to fix probably going to send it with the Orion to the repair shop. Amp powers on but makes a high pitched whine.

the whine isnt to loud. and you can smell the burntness from it.

you'd think that if you were pumping 1000 watts to a 350 rms sub that the sub would die first wouldn't you?
Like in this case, right? Your sub did die first...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Yea this is the first amp i've fried, I will probably be sending it in with the Orion 2500d to the repair place and see if it will be worth fixing. Its been through alot including .5 ohm burps. died on 2 ohms but i was about 2 hours into my trip home. Pulled over really fast to see what happened and the blue hifonics was on and it wasn't even really hot so i didnt think it had blown. At least i have a backup bx1000d but idk if i want to drive down to orlando to compete with 500 less watts.

ur competing with 1 type r?
Street A is only 1 sub 12" or smaller or 3 8's or 2 10's i beleive. So yea, people win street a wiht R's all the time. Do you think its quiet with 1500 watts because trust me it isn't i have some numbers if you want them.

theoretically 1500W vs. 1000W would get you and extra 1.5dB

BUT that is before considering power compression.

seeing as how 1000W is getting near the limits of the type r, the extra 500W probably wasn't doing too much except make a lot of heat //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

although a couple tenths is a big deal in a comp, so it might not be worth your time.

probably depends on how competitive you were planning on being //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
