Hey guys! What's up? Alright, well I am getting ready to install my first sub and amp and I have been hearing a lot about sound deadening. I am a compete amateur when it comes to car audio, and I am not experienced in that much. How hard is it to sound deaden my car. Would there be any point to me sound deadening my trunk, where the sub will be? What is the easiest way to go about sound deadening? Sorry if this is stupid, thanks.

Eazy..

Like making Pancakes..

Just find the deadening you want to use.. STick it on pretty much it..

Course you needs to clean the area and you can use a heatgun if you want to apply it..

what would be the benefits of me deadening my trunk?

Shoudl I do it anyway, or wait and see if i need to?

What would be the cheapest/easiest form of sound deadening to use?

Is there such a think as aerosol spray or anything?

Yah you could just wait to see what rattles in your car.. That works..

Fatmat from Ebay is cheap and good.. Second Skin, Edead, Brown Bead..

Aerosol spray? Used to be.. but it sucks monkey tits..

I wonder if the aerosol fizzled out because the number of monkeys decreased..

I used Raam Mat bxt60 and really like it. Easy to install and use. I didnt need a heatgun to apply it, nor do you unless you live in Antartica. Just leave it laying for a few minutes in the sun, and it warms up nicely. You dont need it to get super hot either, your not cooking eggs on it. Just enough to make it pliable. Make sure to clean your area really good, what I did was first did a general cleaning with mild soapy water. Dry it and using a clean cotton based cloth clean the area again with acetone. It removes all dirt and grease the best. Use a wallpaper roller to help press it in. You will want to start with one layer and add a second on top in areas that draw more vibrations, like the door panels or rear deck panel.

bt, expy2000: So how did Real Madrid do in the Champions League tourney? I guess not so good since next week is the championships with Liverpool and Inter Milan. The game last week with Inter and PSV was a great game. Too bad for PSV and the stupid "away-goal" ruling.

You can get the spray at autozone. Ask for the rubberized undercoating spray.

However, its not the most economical way to do it. Both elemental designs and second skin have specials right now. Also, theres an ad in the classifieds selling the spectrum (liquid deadener) for $20 a gallon. Thats probably the best deal youre gonna get.

The only problem with the spray on products is they dont stick well to plastics, which is what most door skins are made of. The matting sticks great to door skins. Raam Mat can be found for $1.42/ft which is a hell of a deal with a product that is as good as Dynamat Extreme.

http://www.secondskinaudio.com , period.

I've used asphalt-bsaed deadeners (fatmat, eDead, dynamat original, brown bread) extensively now, and although they work VERY VERY well, they smell like @$$.

The smell after over 5 weeks now has not gone away from my friends car, it has decreased slightly, but certainly not gone away //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif .

Secondskin is also having a sale right now on Spectrum v2, a liquid deadener, which works very well I've been told. I have yet to use it but i just ordered 6 gallons so i'll know more soon... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

I use Raammat aswell, and really really like it. Sticks well with little to no heat, no smell, and works well. Rick is an awesome guy to deal with on top of that.

Actually need to get somemore of it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Just used the rest of mine up today......

x2...Rick McCallum is a hell of a guy to work with, nice and friendly, always offers advice. There is a group buy going on right now for it over at another forum I visit (http://www.fullsizechevy.com) and he is offering a 62.5 foot roll for $89. Do you have ensolite foam installed as well? I really heard a huge difference when I installed it over the matting.
